Tails is looking for a friendly, animated and informative ambassador to start a long lasting career in our Rossland store. The new team member will first and foremost provide prompt, efficient and friendly service at all times.
This position involves daily 2-hour hikes with 8-10 dogs per day, off leash in the local wilderness. Then back to the store for a fun filled afternoon of daycare, basic dog training and some retail.
It’s true, this job is a really fun job! But it holds a lot of responsibility. Looking after other people’s fur-babies is serious business. The successful candidate will understand and demonstrate how fun and rewarding this job is, whilst appreciating the level of responsibility involved looking after predators with sharp pointy teeth. Our dogs’ safety and well being is always first and foremost in our mind.
The position is part-time, working at least 30 hours per week (3 x 10 hour shifts per week). Full time hours are also available if the successful candidate wants a full time position. The position is available to start training immediately and will require a 1 year commitment.
Valid and clean driver's license with at least 1 year of driving experience in snow
Physically capable of 2 hour, daily hikes in the bush, year round
Customer service and cash handling experience
Able to lift up to 50 lbs to shoulder height
Passion for working with dogs of all age, breed and size.
Possess patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Bondable, reliable and personable. Professional references will be requested
Love of nature and being outdoors year-round in all types of weather.
- Specific education and/or experience with dogs
- Volunteer or work experience in dog industry (kennel, shelter, breeders, etc.)
We are looking for someone who wants longevity with Tails and who has a willingness to grow and learn. Perks include bringing your dog to work, food and supply discounts, promotion opportunities based on job performance. Want to be a dog trainer, or just to generally learn more about dogs and other animals and how they learn? Tails is willing to invest in you if you are willing to make us your long-term investment too!
